Distinctive
Strategic branding with creative impact
The challenge
Distinctive's portfolio read like a CV — long, loud and skimmable in the wrong way. Clients and collaborators landed, scanned and left without a sense of the work.
Behind the work
The story
The brief
Distinctive's portfolio had every project at the same volume: long, loud, and skimmable in the wrong way. For an agency, that is a positioning problem disguised as a design problem — when everything shouts, nothing is heard, and the best work gets the same three seconds as the weakest.
The brief: make the work read like a point of view, and give a handful of projects the room to actually land. Fewer pieces, deeper stories, and a site that feels as considered as the studio behind it.
What we built
The rebuild opens with one hero project and lets it breathe, then walks through a single process story and one results page. A confident type system carries the conviction; slower, deliberate scroll with scrubbed word reveals makes reading feel like intent rather than scrolling.
Underneath, the site runs on a Webflow build with a CMS portfolio collection, so new case studies publish in an afternoon — no developer, no drift from the design system. The team can add work without watching the art direction erode.
Why it worked
Art direction that commits is the difference between a portfolio and a brochure. Visitors now spend 68% longer on site, and 31% more of them reach the end of a case study — the moment where an agency actually gets shortlisted. The mobile speed score holds at 5/5, so the patience the design asks for is never spent waiting for pixels.
The site finally reads the way the studio works: fewer things, done properly. That coherence is the portfolio, not the decoration around it.
